Forestry officer - Zombo District Local Government

Job Title: Forestry officer

Ref: DSC/ZB/16/156/01/2013, Scale U4, Age limits 21-45years, Vacancy 1(one), Reports to: Senior Forestry Officer/District Natural Resources officer.

Main purpose: To support the implementation of forestry conservation programmes in the District

Duty and Responsibility:

• Providing technical support to the wood based industries in the District
• Providing forest extension services to farm and plantation developers
• Supporting the development of Ecotourism
• Collecting revenues from harvested forests products and depositing it with relevant accounts
• Sensitizing the communities about the benefits of sustainable exploitation of forests resources
• Identifying degraded natural forests and supervising enrichment plating
• Enforcing the observation of National forestry and Tree planting Act 2003
• Supervising and appraising performance of staff of the forestry office
• Participating in plating and budgeting for forest management programmes and activities
• Compiling reports on forestry exploitation and conservation activities
Person’s specification:

• An Honors Bachelors of science Degree in Forestry from a recognized Institution
• Supervising regulations activities on livestock trade and movement

Applicants should attach three sets of photocopies of their certificates and Testimonials and three recent certified passport size photographs

Those already in Government service should route their application through Heads of Department who should be informed of the closing date to avoid unnecessary delays.
Serving officers may submit an advance copy of the application directly to the secretary District Service commission Zombo to enable the Commission carry out the short listing. Those who had earlier on applied, need not to reapply.
