Background: Africa Development Corps (ADC), formerly known as Visions in Action, is an international NGO based out of Washington DC, working in relief and development throughout Africa. Over the past 23 years we have been involved in the implementation of a wide range of humanitarian activities in countries such as Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa and Liberia. In particular, ADC has implemented development and relief programs in the areas of HIV/AIDS, education, youth development and food security. Our current programming in Uganda focuses upon book distribution, library construction and teacher training in rural areas. The program aims to facilitate pupil’s transition from learning in local languages to learning in English. We do this, firstly and foremost, by providing new English textbooks received from donors to schools throughout Uganda. Also, we aim to foster a culture of reading in individual villages and communities, as well as train teachers on how to establish and run school libraries.

Position Description: The WASH Program Manager (PM) will be responsible for implementing Lifeline’s WASH program in accordance with the Lifeline Uganda’s country strategy and donor requirements. The WASH PM will be responsible for maintaining the current high standards of Lifeline’s WASH program, and will be expected to identify and improve operations as necessary. The WASH PM will be responsible for ensuring that all the necessary programmatic documents, including project proposals and budget, technical needs assessments and baseline surveys, technical specifications and designs, implementation modality guidance documents and protocols, and monitoring tools are established and implemented according to WASH program best practices. The WASH PM will manage a large WASH team, and will take responsibility to optimize their operations. Moreover, the WASH PM will be responsible for integrating “soft” interventions, especially improved sanitation and also hygiene, into Lifeline’s current WASH operations.

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled individual to support the communications team as a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity Uganda. The Communications Volunteer will assist with the communications efforts of Habitat for Humanity Uganda (including marketing, advertising and public relations) as well as various projects and events for related initiatives. The assignment components are somewhat flexible and Habitat for Humanity Uganda will work with the individual selected to design the objectives and outcomes for the period of service.

Job Overview
The PD will oversee Mango Tree’s Northern Uganda Literacy Program (NULP) in the Lango Sub-region. The PD will be directly responsible for the planning, organization and execution of all program activities. The PD will ensure that the program is administered properly and that the activities, budget and schedule of the program are followed and that the best results possible are attained.

The PD will be a pro-active member of the Mango Tree management team and an active participant in trainings and material and tools development. The PD will work with the Creative Director and Executive Director (ED) to develop synergies between the various elements of NULP and Mango Tree as a whole.
The PD will play a significant role in fundraising for NULP by communicating with potential funders/donors and coordinating the submission of grant proposals and other fundraising documents. The PD will work hand-in-hand with the lead grant writer for Mango Tree and other grant writers to ensure that submissions are of the highest quality and are made on time. The PD will participate in strategic meetings with funders/donors and will make presentations as necessary. The PD will also function as the primary public representative for NULP and will be called upon to speak on behalf of Mango Tree at events and forums relevant to NULP.
