Business Continuity Manager
Umeme Limited is a major investment of Actis’ Infrastructure 2 fund. Actis is a leading investor in the emerging markets, investing exclusively in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Presently Actis manages over US$4.8bn worth of investment on behalf of more than 100 institutional investors. The Commonwealth Development Corporation (CDC) of the United Kingdom, a UK Government-owned company, is the largest investor in Actis’ infrastructure 2 fund and as such has a relationship with Umeme Ltd indirectly through Actis.

Reports to CIO
Responsible for: The Business Continuity Manager will be responsible for developing, maintaining and testing UMEME's business continuity program. The person will support the necessary business plan activities to enable UMEME to continue its business in the event of a crisis.
Job Purpose: The position's primary purpose will be to document, test and update business contingency plans across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
•
Manage BC Continuity team
•
Liaise with UMEME BC Champions and co-ordinate departmental plans.
•
Prepare a business impact analysis.
•
Assist with definition of critical, time-sensitive functions.
•
Design, develop and document business continuity plans.
•
Recommend recovery strategies and options, and assist with the implementation of recovery solutions.
•
Coordinate business continuity plan exercises.
•
Develop schedules for training / awareness for business partner associates.
•
Report the business continuity status of business units to senior management.
•
Provide expertise and support to management and business functional areas, as requested
•
Other tasks as required
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Business, Information Management, or a related field; or the equivalent in education and work experience
Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP) or Associate Disaster Recovery Planner accreditation desired.
Experience:
•
5+ years managing business continuity within an organization
•
Knowledge of technology and business concepts, life cycles and processes
•
Self-starter with the ability to work with a great degree of autonomy
