Share An Opportunity Uganda (SAO-U) is a National Christian founded child, focused NGO empowering households and communities to fulfill their obligations in child care and development and she is affiliated to Baptist Union of Uganda.
SOA-U ‘s key thematic areas are child health , basic education for OVCs, child advocacy, development for community based organizations while HIV/AIDS is mainstreamed in the program.
We are looking for a competent, proven mature Born again Christian with tested Managerial skills.
Qualifications
MA with bias in development or management or MBA plus leaderships or management skills
Reports to Chairman of the Board
Provide strategic direction to SAO and implement Board resolutions
To head the management team of the organization
The executive accounting officer of the organization
To over see that all the functions of the organization are functional and are achieving  the organizational goals and objectives
To carry out other assignments as the Board may direct
Must be computer literate and proficient in Ms Word, excel and internet use
Ability to multi task

Country Programme Manager Needed at Farm Africa, Uganda


Country Programme Manager 

Part time and home based
Farm Africa is a specialist international non-governmental organisation (INGO) working in remote and resource-poor rural areas. Founded in 1985, we” help smallholder farmers and herders in Africa to grow more food, keep their livestock healthy, make a basic living and manage their natural resources in a sustainable way. Farm Africa has been working in the five eastern African countries since 1987: Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, South Sudan and Ethiopia. We have developed key expertise in the areas of forestry, livestock and fisheries, and crop agriculture.
Farm Africa has developed its global Strategy for the period 2012-2015. As a result of the strategy, it has also become apparent that it has to restructure the country programs; thus the Uganda and Tanzania Programs are now run and managed from a recently opened Country Programme Office in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. In Uganda, Farm Africa currently implements three projects: climbing bean production and marketing; maize production and marketing; and beans, rice, maize and ground nuts production and marketing projects. Farm Africa aims to expand its work in Uganda and would like to recruit a competent professional Part time Staff as its Country Programme Manager for Uganda based in Kampala. The key focuses of the job holder are. representation of Farm Africa, $strategy Development, Program Development, Information dissemination and mentoring Staff, The post holder reports to the Country Director, Tanzania and Uganda.
Country Programme Manager (Part time and home based)
ROLE: The Country Program Manager will be representing the Farm Africa in Uganda at all levels and will be in charge of developing and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders which include INGOS, local CSOs, Donors, the relevant Ministries and their affiliates of the Government of Uganda, research and academic institutions and bilateral and multilateral institutions. To this end, a continuous context analysis and feedback to the CO in Dar es Salaam is expected from the post holder. S/he will also be responsible for the development of a Farm Africa strategy for Uganda. This will also be followed by continuous development of programs/projects that enable Farm Africa achieve its strategic plans and goals. The post holder also engages in bringing in new lessons, information dissemination and staff mentoring.
DUTIES:
Establish and maintain alliances and partnerships in Uganda within the voluntary sector (local and international NGOs, Donors, Bilateral and Multilaterals, etc.), with the different tiers of the government and relevant ministries in Uganda.
Ensure close coordination with representatives of the Government of Uganda on program issues that are identified by Farm Africa as its core areas of focus.
Act as main focal point of the Farm Africa, mainly for context and operational analysis. And for networking, partnership and fund raising.
Represent Farm Africa in Uganda in a manner that promotes its values and mission.
Develop a Country Strategy for Farm Africa in Uganda in consultation with the Project staff, key stakeholders and staff in the Country office in Dar es Salaam.
Ensure support to the development of coherent and integrated programs and projects that would help the expansion of the Farm Africa Uganda program portfolio.
Ensure appropriate assessment of development needs in Uganda is reflected in the programs and projects being developed are undertaken and that results are reflected in strategic plans.
Regularly update developments in the sectors we are working and provide monthly updates and quarterly reports.
Regular reviews of the program works being implemented by Farm Africa projects and provide feedback and a hands-on technical guidance as required.
Research varied development and practice models that help Farm Africa in the design and delivery of programs and also support and contribute to professional development of staff.
KEY OUTCOMES:
Strong leadership on creating and developing links with stakeholders and networks.
Promotion of the Farm Africa brand and enhancement of its reputation through positive relationships with all others stakeholders including local and international NGOs, donors, governments and Embassies.
Will have coordinated work on proposal development in response to call for proposals (at least two/three in a year).
Will have developed the Farm Africa country strategic plan built within the global Farm Africa strategy.
Periodic reports reflecting major context, developments and relationships.
Requirement:
Post graduate level education in a related field such as but not limited to Agriculture, agricultural Economics, International Development, Project Management, and Business Management, Social work, and related fields
5-7 years related work experience, including 3 years’ experience managing or overseeing multiple projects/representing organizations.
Experience coordinating and integrating programmes/projects and budgets in complex operating environments.
Organizational and management skills, with proven strengths in programme Development and management.
Strong analytical and strategic skills and experience in developing strategic plans.
Strong skills in capacity building/knowledge transfer methodologies.
Strong written and verbal communications skills in English.
Demonstrated skills in diplomacy and building diplomatic relationships with various stakeholders.
Previous similar work an asset.
