Job Title            ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT/PROJECTS(1 vacancy)

Reports to             senior Accountant/projects

Main purpose
The Assistant accountant will be responsible to the senior accountant for effective and efficient implementation of activities of handling finances in the accounts office through the accounts function.
Competencies required
Applicants    must   be  Ugandans  in  possession  of  minimum  of  the  following  qualifications;
  • UDBS  or  any   Diploma   in  accountancy  obtained  from   a  recognized    awarding  Institution  of  a  Diploma  in  Accounts   from  a  recognized  Institution.  Part  qualification  in  ACCA  or  CPA  will  be  an  added  advantage.
  • Prior  Accounting  experience  of  atleast  2  years  in  a  related  field.
  • Knowing   of  Government  of  Uganda  Accounting  practices  and  procedures.
  • Knowledge  of  relevant  accounting  packages.

Duties  and  Responsibilities
  • Prepairing    activity  work  plans  providing   technical  input   in  the  budget  preparation   proceses.
  • Proccessing  of  payments  for  activities   including    withdrawals,   banking  and  issuing   out  payments  to  facilitate  field   activities.
  • Maintainance    of   up-to-date    accounts    records   and   books  of  accounts,  including   cash  books  and  ledgers  and  preparation   of  bank  reconciliation   statements
  • Any other  official  duties  assigned  from  time  to  time.

The  successful   candidates  will  be  appointed   for  a five - year  contract  and  is  subject    to   a  six  months  probationary  period.

Main purpose of the job
The transport officer will be part of the administrative team and will take care of direct activities related to routing and tracking of commission vehicles, their maintenance and mentoring the drivers and maintaining the vehicles
Competencies required
  • A degree in mechanical engineering, transportation, logistics, Administration, management or other related fields. A combination of relevant academic qualifications and extensive experience in transport operation may be accepted
  • Hold a valid national driving license
  • Demonstrate ability to manage diverse transport operation
  • Etiquettes and people management skills
  • Fair knowledge of MS office software
  • Ability to solve problems, take initiative and plan the task
  • Flexibility with time to work extra hours is highly required
  • Experienced candidates will be preferred
  • Ability to work in a team with highly people orientatation is a must


Duties and responsibilities
  • Plan manage and organize the work of driving staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with commission requirements
  • Develop criteria, application instruction, procedural manuals, and contracts for the transportation programs
  • Read and interpret maps and driving directions to plan the most efficient route service for the commission
  • To supervise and control the driving staff for the specified routes
  • Coordinate the schedule for major or periodic vehicle maintenance with management and staff to minimize service interruption
  • Responsible for the road safety   programs. Develops and maintain active road accident prevention programs.
  • Ensure good behavior and discipline by the commission drivers
  • Must manage and guide the driving staff to prevent accidents, especially in heavy traffic or bad weather
  • Monitor spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets
  • Direct and coordinate activities of the transport office in order to obtain use of equipments, facilities and human resources
  •  Coordinate with the finance department for the issue of finance for refueling and maintenance of vehicles under supervision
  • Coordinate the individual yearly work plans for drivers and procedures detailed performance assessments and evaluation for them as required
  • Ensure that the commission vehicles are used in accordance with the government of Uganda rules and regulations and that vehicles usage data is correctly recorded
  • Liase with other commission directorates in providing transport support to the operational activities of the commission

Job Requirements:
The Surveillance Officer participates in the implementation of the survey. The officer assists the line manager in planning, implementation, and reporting of survey activities. Participation and ownership by DHOs and other stakeholders of the project is crucial to the success of the project
Responsibilities Include;
•    Participate in developing and using project work plans.
•    Train the surveillance supervisors and enumerators on survey methodology and coordination of field activities.
•    Assist the line manager in the training of DHO and other NGO staff on data collection system, information rim and quality assurance.
•    Clarify training administrative matters (timetable, allowances etc) to participants.
•    Write training Report
•    Supervise the data entrant in the field and ensure quality work.
•    Collaborate with the OHO, local authorities and other partners in the implementation of activities within communities. Update program manager on any contextual information that is vital in smooth running of the project.
Matching Indicators;
•    First degree in Nutrition, community health or statistics.
•    Minimum one year in nutrition surveillance or in a related area.
•    Good competence in using programs such as ENA for SMART, SPSS and MS Office
•    Report writing, communication, learn spirit community participation, good knowledge of Karamoja region and management skill is a plus
•    Fluent written and spoken English, Knowledge of Ngakarimojong an asset;
