Responsibilities
•             Verifying and checking accuracy of all the field data and filling correctly before entering in the database

•             Supporting field staff to collect required data regularly, using systematically developed monitoring tools
Qualifications
•             Experience in data management with an International NGO is desired;
•             Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office and other data entry programs like SPSS, Epi-data
•             Ability to think critically and pay attention to details;

Job Title: Laboratory Technician

The Makerere University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) is a non-profit HIV Research program that was established in 2002 as a result of a memorandum of understanding between University and the Henry M. Jackson founded for Advancement of Military Medicine Inc.
Essential Duties
•             Perform monthly comparability sample testing between Kayunga districts Hospital laboratory other MUWRP laboratories, and any other laboratories as may be deemed necessary in order to ensure continuous proficiency.
•             Maintain all laboratory equipment validation, calibration, quality control documentation and necessary routine /periodic preventive maintenance.
•             Monitor and track logistical requirements so that all laboratory supplies are on hand at all times. Liaise with the Laboratory QA/QC field officer in order to establish reliable and consistent reagent supply lines
Required Education
•             A Diploma in Medical Laboratory technology from a recognized institution with at least 2 years working experience in busy Diagnostic /research laboratory environment
•             Evidence of prior training in relevant techniques will be an added advantage.

Job Summary: The Planning Specialist will offer leadership to the Planning Section and guidance to the PCR Managers, Chiefs of Field Offices, Zonal  and Sectoral specialists on all aspects of the country programme needs for planning, monitoring and evaluation, including those related to UN Delivering-as-One in Uganda. Work closely with the Chief of Social Policy and Evaluation to ensure timely implementation of all planned studies, assessments and evaluations during the country programme period, including the MTR, rolling situation analysis and end of cycle evaluation, and integration of results/outcome in the rolling work  plans and budgets, and annual programme progress and other reports.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Keep continuously abreast with the situation of children and women in Uganda, and ensure collection, analysis and dissemination of updated data and information on  child survival, protection and development in the country,  with emphasis on updated  human rights-based district specific situation analysis for the 58 UNICEF districts for additional emphasis.
Ensure continuous flow of information on the situation to the Dep. Rep, the Representative and the PCR Managers for policy development, planning, advocacy and resource mobilization.
Provide substantive technical support to the Deputy Representative for the new country programme process, including preparation of strategy note, country programme document (CPD), country programme plan of action (CPAP) and coordination of UNICEF inputs to the UN Country Assessment, UNDAF strategies/outcomes or UNDAF Action Plan and Joint Programmes, ensuring coherence with UNICEF CPD/CPAP and emerging needs of children.
Responsible for the development and continuous updating of HRAP based planning and monitoring guidelines for the country programme and ensure that they also reflect  decentralization of government planning procedures, participatory planning approaches and indicators for community and district monitoring. Ensure timely preparation and integration of UNICEF inputs into the District Development Plans for the 58   districts of additional emphasis, GOU Sector plans and  UNICEF/GOU Rolling Work Plans  for both districts and nationwide support.
Ensure synchronization of the UNICEF support with the GOU planning cycles.
Provide guidance and procedures to the area programme managers and project officers, districts on all aspects of program planning and monitoring according to UNICEF’s, policies, guidelines and operational procedures, especially those specifically developed for the CP.
Ensure timely implementation and effective monitoring of UNICEF inputs (cash, supply, contract, training, and travel) and participate in quarterly and annual reviews and planning exercises for the 58  districts supported by the CP on a rotating basis and the national level meetings when needed.
Undertake frequent CP monitoring visits to the 58 districts to assess the effectiveness and cost efficiency of UNICEF assistance to the districts for planning monitoring and adjustment of strategies and approaches.
Ensure establishment of an effective district based monitoring system for regular assessment of community and district specific targets and outcomes related to CP goals and ensure linkage between lower government and district and national monitoring systems.
Establish capacity building monitoring system at district level which reflects UNICEF’s contribution to the individual districts in terms of training, management support, communication and logistics and other items which are supposed to enhance and facilitate country programme implementation.
Provide backstopping to the Reports Specialist to ensure timely submission of donor, progress and any other reports requested by the Deputy Representative or the Representative’s office

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should hold an advanced university degree in Social Sciences or other related field.
Eight years of relevant work experience at the national and international levels in social development, management, monitoring and evaluation.
Fluency in English and another UN language. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.

Job Summary: The main responsibility is to maintain accurate financial and accounting records and efficient General Ledger Management Processes for all Projects to ensure timely reporting.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure all statements of affairs position and Project expenditure summaries are reconciled and signed off on a monthly basis.
Review Ledger postings to ensure accurate record keeping including reconciliations of month end and year end Ledger Accounts and that closing processes are performed, Implemented, and continuously monitored in accordance with the Company Policies and procedures in use, International Financial Reporting Standards and statutory requirements.
Review inputs of payment vouchers, Adjustment Journals, coding system for vouchers and ensuring capturing in Sun System is accurate.

Participate in Budget preparation and reviews for departmental budget submissions for accuracy.
Assist in preparation of variance analysis and related reports to be used for management reporting.
Preparation of Project annual and periodic accounts in compliance with statutory obligations, Project Accounting policies and as per the government requirements.
Assist in Coordinating external audit and to ensure that all Project accounts are prepared according to relevant International Accounting Standards.
Co-ordinate the preparation of revenue and capital budgets for Projects including but not limited to giving guidance and technical support to budget Centres.
Liaise with corporate finance on matters concerning Project Expenditures
Ensure that project expenditure is in compliance with all statutory obligations e.g. Taxes, National Social Security Fund and Local government rules and regulations.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The candidate should hold a Bachelors Degree in either B.Com or BBA or BSc or BA in Accounting from a recognized University.
Possession of professional qualifications such as CPA (U), CPA (K), ACCA etc.
Significant experience in accounting for Donor funded projects.
Past or present working experience in implementing computerized integrated Management systems, hands on experience in use of Sun Systems Accounting Packages.
