About OIOS:
The United Nations Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) is an independent office in the United Nations Secretariat whose mandate is to "assist the Secretary-General in fulfilling his internal oversight responsibilities in respect of the resources and staff of the Organization."Specifically, activities include internal audit, investigation, monitoring, evaluation, inspection, reporting and support services to the United Nations Secretariat. Its intended and mandated function is similar to many national government audit organisations, like the Government Accountability Office in the United States. It reports not only to the General Assembly, but also to the Secretary-General.
Responsibilities:
Within limits of delegated authority and under the supervision of the Chief of Section, the Investigation Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:
Supports in carrying out interviews and research of documentary evidence;
Performs basic research on assigned issues using investigation files and alternative sources to verify facts, identify citations, precedents and draft statements of findings and respondent replies to appeals;
Enlists the continued cooperation of witnesses;
Rigorously prepares and maintains the body of investigation reference files including management of individual case files;

The program aims to facilitate pupil’s transition from learning in local languages to learning in English. We do this, firstly and foremost, by providing new English textbooks received from donors to schools throughout Uganda. This role involves management responsibilities as the candidate will directly supervise a team of in-field book processors. The candidate must work closely with all program staff, and provide the Executive Director and Education Program Manager with monthly progress reports.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should possess a University Degree or equivalent experience required, Masters Degree in development related area is preferred.
Ideally, the candidate will have background in education.
Some knowledge and experience in the field of logistics would be an added advantage.
Experience in nonprofit setting and/or international NGO setting required.
Prior experience conducting monitoring and evaluation is required.
Excellent communication skills and be willing to travel to challenging rural environments.
Experience in a management capacity will also be seen as an added advantage.

Under the guidance of the Chief Field Operations and Emergency, and in close collaboration with the technical sections and Zonal offices, the incumbent is responsible for the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, as well as carrying out periodic programme reviews with partners, of the country programme in regards to decentralized approach, disaster risk reduction (DRR) rollout and emergency preparedness and response codification. The incumbent will provide leadership and technical assistance for innovative approaches to DRR and emergency preparedness; Participate in the preparation of programme status implementation reports as required.
Required Qualifications, Competencies and Attributes Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, or related technical field. Five years of progressively responsible professional work experience in programme formulation, planning, management, monitoring and evaluation, some of which should be in emergency programme management and operations. Versatility, judgment, maturity and ability to work in a team. Ability to cope with stressful and difficult conditions and political/cultural sensitivity. Current knowledge of development issues, policies, as well as social programming policies and procedures in international development DRR and emergency response and cooperation. Proven ability to conceptualise, innovate, execute ideas, as well as to impart knowledge and teach skills Leadership and organizational abilities Good analytical, negotiation, communication and advocacy skills. Computer skills, including internet navigation and various office applications. Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relations both within and outside the organisation.
