Tasks and Responsibilities

Job Purpose;
The purpose of this position is to diagnose, monitor, carry out surveillance and offer advice on all aspects of direct and indirect poultry health and the associated management thereof.
Key Duties and Responsibilities;
 To supervise the technical team and ensure compliance to the set operation procedures;
 To ensure appropriate management and auditing of the bio-security in the organisation;
 To implement disease control programs like vaccination;
 To monitor and coordinate both internal and external disease control programs;
 To implement the emergency disease plans and programmes;
 To appraise, train and develop the technical team;
 To carry out field research and provide appropriate analysis of the collected data;
 To implement company technical corporate social responsibilities plans like infectious disease control for broiler complex environs, networking on technical matters;
 To ensure and coordinate quality assurance of the day-old chick, water, and feed;
 To ensure regular flock health assessment;
 To prepare, record and submit technical reports;
 To deliver laboratory samples to an outsourced diagnostic laboratory;
 To co-work with supplier hatchery on ensuring quality chicks are dispatched to the farm.
 The work may also involve working overtime and during holidays
Relevant Experience and Qualification;
 Minimum of minimum of two years working experience as poultry flock health manager or technician.
 Minimum degree in veterinary medicine or diploma in livestock health management..
Other Skills;
 Knowledge of poultry management, especially broiler management;
 Knowledge of flock health management;
 Knowledge of disease investigation and reporting;
 Knowledge of quality control standards for a broiler complex;
 Proficiency in computer.
 Good communication skills, and fluent in English
 Working knowledge of feed mill and processing plant operations;
 Bio-security planning and implementation;
