Title: Sustainable Livelihood Assistant
Supervisor: Sustainable Livelihood Officer Job summary
This position is responsible for assisting in the mobilization, training, disbursement of loans and following up on loan repayment from clients. This position works closely with Community Banking Groups (CBGs) and also supports in project administrative responsibilities.
Roles and responsibilities:
Support Sustainable Livelihood Officer to efficiently manage the project workplan and budget.
Assist in training of all clients in business and loan management and the implication of defaulting
Participate in screening and assessing clients based on set criteria before loan disbursement
Participate in regular monitoring of loan recovery for individual clients Ensure clients are paying back according to the agreed upon terms
Take part in the management of exit strategy for clients in the 2nd loan cycle
Provide advice in reviewing and updating of appropriate policies for the project
Participate in loan committee meetings and ensure action plan is implemented as agreed upon in meetings
Ensure all relevant project documentation is up to date.
Requirement:
Minimum of diploma in Business Administration, Development Studies or any related field
A training in microfinance management is added advantage
Skills and experience
At least 2 years' experience in rural community development work Good communication and rural facilitation skills desired
Computer application skills including Ms Word and Ms Excel Knowledge of local language will be an added advantage
Motorcycle riding skills is a MUST

Title: Sustainable Livelihood Officer
Supervisor: Community Projects Coordinator
Job’s overall purpose: Provide overall leadership to the Sustainable Livelihood Project ensuring the set project objectives are achieved. This position supervises three project assistants, works closely with the Finance office and Community Banking Groups (CBGs) to ensure clients are taking and returning loans.
Roles and responsibilities:
Facilitate the process of ensuring the project activities are implemented as per the annual plan and the Project loan policy.
Liaise with supervisors and relevant stakeholders in relation to project implementation of community based activities.
Implement Project Community development activities using Rights Based Approach to enable self-reliance among beneficiaries.
Provide basic training to clients in Nurture Africa loan and business management.
Prepare project periodic work plans and budgets and ensure appropriate utilization of project resources.
Monitor different Community Banking Groups (CBGs) on daily basis to ensure accurate documentation of the group loan records.
Receive and assess clients business plans and guide them accordingly to start sustainable businesses.
Compile monthly, quarterly and annual project reports and update the portfolio on monthly basis in a timely manner.

Requirement:
A degree in Development Studies, Agriculture, SWASA or Business studies is desired.
A training in microfinance management is added advantage.

Ability to initiate tasks and implement them under minimum supervision.

Job Purpose
Assists the Rig Tool Pusher in supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in oil drilling, directs workers to erect, dismantle, and move drilling rigs, and drilling crews in setting up and operating power units, draw works and other drilling equipment. He reports to Rig Tool Pusher.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the order, cleanliness and house keeping at rig site.
• Responsible for the maintenance of the drilling tools and equipment
• Supervises the drilling crew for equipment preparation
• Updates the rotating hours of the drilling equipment.
• Update the rotating hours of the drilling string
• He controls the IADC drilling report and all associated drilling reports requested by the Company and the Client.

• Safety is a major responsibility. Each individual member of the company must accept the responsibility to ensure safe working in his respective area.
• He must apply Company safety regulations.
• He must report to the Rig Tool Pusher for all the potential hazards and abnormal situations.
• Plan and implement safety at his work site.
• Obtain necessary safety clearance for the nature/type of work to be carried out, in advance, in consultation with the HSE Adviser and in accordance with safety procedures (I.E work permit).
• Explain to concerned persons the visible and hidden hazards involved in the job. (Job Safety Analysis / /Pre job meetings).
• Instruct his personnel before commencing the work, as to the safety precautions and measures to be observed at work (Toolbox meetings).
• Ensure that instructions given by him are fully complied with by all the personnel while working and rectify any defect / default.
• Report promptly to the line management any violation of safety regulations by the personnel even if this violation has not resulted in an accident.

• A Masters degree in a relevant field and basic legal qualifications will be an added advantage.
Minimum experience

The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) is implementing the Vegetable Oil Development Project – Phase Two (V0DP2) funded by the Government of Uganda (GOU) and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, the executing Agency of V0DP2 wishes to recruit a qualified agriculturist for the position of Hub Coordinator, Lira Hub.

Objectives of the Assignment:

To strengthen the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the Vegetable Oil Development Project by hiring the services of a full time hub coordinator who will be based in Lira, and will be responsible for developing, monitoring and evaluating strategies for planning and implementation of the Oil Seed Development component in Lira hub in line with the project guidelines.

Terms of Reference and Scope of Services:

The scope of services for the hub coordinator shall include the following; The hub coordinator will be in charge of the day to day running and management of project activities in the Lira hub. He/She will backstop and advise all partners on their roles on the project in the Lira Hub. In general, the officer should;

    be a Ugandan Citizen holding a Bachelor’s degree from recognized Universities in relevant fields;
    have general knowledge of project and business management with emphasis on work planning, budgeting and reporting;
    be computer literate and well versed in the use of Word, Excel and internet;
    be self-motivated and have the ability to take initiatives and work with minimal supervision to meet deadlines;
    be fluent in English – written and oral and demonstrate excellent report writing skills;
    posses advanced advocacy, communication and negotiation skills and ability to work as a team member;
    be conversant with rural poverty reduction strategies and gender equity;
    have a working knowledge of GOU policies, operations and reforms;
    posses and demonstrate knowledge and experience working with the private sector;
    have excellent skills in working with groups to build consensus and resolving conflict;
    have excellent organizational skills with the ability for multi-tasking; and
    Posses excellent presentation skills; oral and written with attention to detail.

The Project Hub Coordinator’s duties and responsibilities will include the following;

    Working on putting in place operational partnerships with private sector operators for the provision of oil seeds extension services, and assisting in the preparation of appropriate procurement specifications for the private sector to bid on these contracts;
    participate in Oil Seed Stakeholders Sub-sector Platform (OSSUP) regional activities to coordinate the oil seeds sub-sector and national meetings as warranted;
    guide the day-to-day oil seed component activity planning, budgeting, management, implementation and reporting in the Hub and to’ensure that project activities are gender balanced and focus on poverty alleviation;
    identify suitable implementing partners and assist the Project Manager and Oil Seeds Coordinator in establishing partnerships;
    monitor and Supervise activities of the implementing partners in the hub;
    provide technical guidance and backstopping on oil seed crop management and development;
    provide support to the M&E Officer in the development and management of a database on Oil seed Development Component;
    in collaboration with Communications Officer; support the training programme at Hub level, including planning, budgeting, implementation, production and dissemination of leaflets, guidelines and other training materials;
    Carry out other duties (related to the project’s activities) as may be assigned by the Project Management.

Requirements
Specifically, the Hub Coordinator- Lira will be:    

    Reporting to the Oil Seeds Coordinator and will be responsible for management and oversight of the implementation of the Oil Seed Component in the Lira Hub.

In addition, to the general qualifications detailed above, the following specific qualifications are required.

    A Bachelor's degree in agriculture, agricultural sciences, or other relevant field, and a Masters degree in a relevant field;
    Technical competencies in oil seed sector in production, processing and marketing;
    Experience of at least 5 years, of which 2 relate to working with private sector;
    Working experience including in project planning, implementation and management, monitoring and administration within bilateral or multilateral or international NGOs.
