Job Information
Rakai Health Sciences Program is a collaborative Bio-medical research and service delivery organization. It strives to improve the quality of life of the local population through a combination of community based research, curative services and prevention strategies in the district of Rakai, South Western Uganda. It is based at the Uganda Virus Research Institute – Entebbe and Kalisizo in Rakai District.
The Program is seeking to strengthen its staffing position in order to efficiently execute its research activities. Applications are therefore invited from qualified and competent Ugandans to fill a vacant position based at RAKAI HEALTH SCIENCES PROGRAM- Kalisizo, Rakai district
An experienced Data Management Officer is required to work on different clinical, behavioural and epidemiological studies. The successful candidate will join a dedicated research team in Kalisizo, Rakai; but may occasionally be required to work at another station in Entebbe. The work will include routine data management activities, designing of data entry applications, routine analysis of data and reporting.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Bachelor of Statistics or BSc (MES) Honours degree.
• Experience in data management and programming using either Fox Pro, or Ms Access,
• SQL or Datafax for at least 2 years.
• Experience in field data collection methods.
• Analysis using STATA or SPSS will be an added advantage.

• Must be self-motivated, able to work under minimum supervision and well organized

Manage operations employee performance, development, and technical training
Provides technical guidance and work direction to operations personnel and advise regarding equipment problems, equipment condition, equipment specifications and equipment limitations
Assist reliability engineering with equipment operating and maintenance issues
Maintain records of communications and dispatching activities
Generates monthly invoices and assists in the collection of past due accounts
Ensures that critical information is communicated to appropriate manager or other staff. Works independently under general supervision, requiring normal guidance and review
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Degree qualified with a level of field or offshore experience
Liner Hanger experience essential.
Must have a minimum of 8 – 10 years relevant experience.
Strong communication skills; ideally client-facing and internally also
Experience of inventory methods and stock control procedures
High level of self-motivation
Able to communicate with customers
