Purpose of the post: Under the close supervision of Maternal Health and HIV/AIDS Specialist, the incumbent will contribute to the formulation, design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of UNICEF-Uganda’s interventions on maternal and new-born health and HIV/AIDS. The incumbent will contribute towards keeping the “Alive” team apprised of new developments and best practices that support the reduction of maternal and new-born mortality in Uganda and advocates with the MoH for adoption of those policies; Prepare regular status reports to donors and other partners; Provide technical and operational support and guidance in the field and provide capacity building for those involved in programme implementation.

Required Qualifications, Competencies and Attributes  Advanced degree in Public Health or related discipline is essential, preferably in Medical or Nursing; Public health or clinical specialization in maternal or newborn health-related or HIV/AIDS is an advantage.  At least three years of professional experience in public health, with at least two years experience in maternal and newborn health. International public health experience is an advantage;  Experience in designing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating maternal and newborn health programmes in Uganda;  Experience in development of materials for capacity-building and health education;  Experience in supporting and coordinating project activities across a large organization and with other international partner organizations;  Proven ability to manage relationships with partner agencies, including MoH, donors and national and international NGOs;  Proven skills in communication, networking, strategic thinking, advocacy and fundraising;  Proven ability to conceptualize, plan and execute ideas as well as to transfer knowledge and skills;  Fluency in English is required and strong written and verbal communications skill therein strongly desirable.  Core Values (Required): Commitment; Diversity and Inclusion; Integrity  Core Competencies (Required): Communication; Working with People; Drive for Results
