NFT Consult, a leading HR Consultancy firm, seeks to recruit for it valuable client, a value added timber products business with operations in Mozambique, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda and the largest commercial timber species planter in East Africa. The business is growing rapidly and there is a large focus on diversifying product streams, broadening the customer base, and ratcheting the commercial side of the business and the organization's market positioning.
Job Summary: The incumbent will primarily be responsible for all regional logistics across the East African Region.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Offer a coherent understanding of the logistics industry in the EAC region – transporter networks, rates, shipping across Lake Victoria, clearing across borders, etc
To provide a rolling transport forecast based on supporting the sales plan
To instill documented processes into the business per transport lane
Execute the relevant logistics plan within cost and service parameters and through liaising with the various HoDs
Draw up the logistics budget on an annual basis, track performance against this baseline and take complete accountability for the logistics function
Weekly reporting
Compile a business case of own fleet vs outsource
Qualifications,
The applicant should possess a Bachelor's degree in Procurement & Logistics, Business Administration, Commerce or related field.
Possession of an advanced degree or Post Graduate Diploma will be an added advantage.
Skills and Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years’ experience
Possess a detailed understanding of cross-border logistics (freight shipping)
Past experience managing clearing agents
Proven experience on fleet management (Very conversant with tracking systems
Excellent communication skills
High team work
Technology skills i.e. proficiency in Power Point, MS Excel, Outlook and MS Word
Planning and organization skills very essential
Excellent analytical skills
