Job Title: National Program Officer
UNAIDS is the Joint United Nations Program on HIV and AIDS , that brings together the efforts and resources of UN Agencies and aims to advance global progress in achieving country set targets for Universal Access to HIV Prevention , treatment , care and support .
Responsibilities
• Support the prioritization , process and technical aspects of data collection and compilation , and analysis related to epidemiology and the response , in view of informing future program efforts including surveillance , surveys and mapping , analyses of programmatic and survey data on the response ; strengthening of M&E systems , analyses of status and trends of the epidemic ; analyses of the distribution of new infections by geography and by mode of transmission ; triangulation and modeling of epidemiological and response data assess impact and identify programmatic gaps .
• Ensure follow –up and provide support to the UCC for specific programmatic actions and reprogramming informed by strategic analyses that identify program gaps ;
• Support reporting at national level and contribute data and analyses to the regional and global level
Qualifications
• Essential : University degree in public health , epidemiology , statistics and demography.
• Desirable : Advanced university degree in one of the above fields
Experience
• Essential : A minimum of 3 to 6 years of professional work , experience in the design , development and operational application of strategic information systems of AIDS programs in low and middle income country settings .
• Demonstrated knowledge and sound understanding of the UN System.
Competencies
• Quantitative skills to analyze data; skills in translating data into proposals for action ;
• Good understanding of the HIV and AIDS epidemic and its impact on countries ;
• Knowledge of development and multi sect oral issues .
