Transport Coordinator 

Rakai Health Sciences Program is a bio-medical research and service delivery collaborative initiative located in Rakai district, South Western Uganda.

It strives to improve health outcomes of populations through a combination of community-based research, curative services, and prevention strategies. It is based at the Uganda Virus Research Institute- Entebbe and Kalisizo in Rakai District.

The program is seeking to strengthen its staffing position in order to efficiently execute its research and service activities.
Reporting to: Program Administrator
The main focus of this role will be to assume responsibility for managing end-to-end transport requirements for both our Entebbe and Kalisizo offices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plan, organize and direct all aspects of the Program transport service.
• Undertake day to day operational administration of RHSP transport, ensuring that vehicles are scheduled and ready to meet end user needs.
• Minimize liability to the organization by anticipating problems, evaluating magnitude of the problem and taking actions to correct problem and/or reduce risk.
• Manage the automobile fleet system, conduct monthly performance analysis and prepare reports to guide management on appropriate decision making
• Monitor the transportation department automobile maintenance program. Ensure all routine maintenance and needed repair procedures are completed by appropriate service providers in a timely manner, and keep up to date vehicle service and spare part replacement records.
• Maintain transportation section records such as staff time sheets, daily inspection forms, mileage, maintenance logs, fuel receipt/consumption records and accident reports.
• Prepare monthly reports of all automobile inspections, information on mileage covered, license matters, first aid kits, and general inspection.
• Perform other administrative tasks in the transport section.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
• The successful candidate should possess a degree in humanities from a recognized institution
• A diploma in fleet / Automobile management is an added advantage
• Knowledge in vehicle maintenance and management.
• Should posses a Valid driving permit
• Knowledge in defensive driving
• Leadership and supervisory skills
• High level of integrity.
• Must have Computer skills
• Willingness to work and reside in a rural setting – Rakai District.
• Willing and ready to work for long hours.
