The International Federation of Women Lawyers was founded on the 4th of August, 1944 in Mexico City, Mexico. The Federation was named in Spanish as FederaciĆ³n Internacional de Abogadas (FIDA). Since 1944, FIDA has established membership in over 70 countries across the world.
The Uganda Association of Women Lawyers (FIDA Uganda) was established in 1974 by a group of women lawyers with the primary objective of promoting their professional and intellectual growth. FIDA Uganda established its first legal aid clinic in Kampala in 1988, with the objective of providing legal services to indigent women to enable them access justice.
Today, FIDA Uganda has over 300 members, and offices in cities and towns across the country; Arua, Gulu, Iganga, Kampala and Soroti. While the provision of legal aid remains a core function of FIDA Uganda, the Association has adopted a broad range of strategic functions to pursue gender equality. FIDA Uganda is a much respected founding entity in the advocacy for women’s rights in Uganda, and a well-renowned voice for the women of Uganda.

Building partnerships & coalitions

Leading and motivating cost-efficient change programmes
Effective management skills, underpinned by strong social commitment.
Responsibility:
Implementation of FIDA-Uganda’s Strategic plan; including articulation of the ‘FIDA- Uganda’s Brand and ensuring an effective system of strategic measurement and governance.
Ensuring that the organisation is structured, organized, managed and controlled in such a way as to maximize achievement of that vision and delivery of the FIDA-Uganda’s Brand.
Overseeing all aspects of FIDA-Uganda’s operational management, ensuring that standards of excellence are set and maintained in every sphere of activity.
Leading and developing the highly motivated team of staff.
Promoting FIDA-Uganda nationally regionally and internationally.
Developing partner and donor relationships and vii) Overseeing organizational resources.
Requirement:
Bachelor's degree in Law
Master in law, social sciences or humanities
A Diploma in legal practice is an added advantage
At least 10 years' experience in the field of development or human rights
Extensive experience in managing teams and a proven track record as a facilitative, inspirational leader
Aptitude for or experience in financial management; experience in fundraising and donor relations is preferred
Evidence of effective resource management, including a good track record of financial accountability and fundraising
A proven track record as a visionary and strategic leader, demonstrating passion and vision, along with drive for accomplishment
Genuine concern and care for others, excellent communication skills;
