Project Manager -  Cooperazione e Sviluppo Onlus

WORK CONTEXT
Cesvi operates in the Agago (Kalongo) and Lango (Lira) districts.
Sector activities include: rural development with the construction and rehabilitation of wells; protection and management of water resources; construction of latrines; distribution of seeds and farm tools; agricultural training; capacity building; land rights.
The Cesvi Kalongo program aims at improving labor productivity, farmers skills and practices as well as at promoting land rights in the area.
Kalongo is usually quiet and relatively safe, and foreigners can normally move around without harassment or danger, provided that they respect local cultural sensibilities.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The collaboration will start by April 2013.
The main duty station will be Kalongo with willingness to frequently travel within the program area. The person will respond to the HQ’s Desk Officer and the Cesvi Uganda CR.

Main tasks and duties:
Be responsible of the technical coordination of Cesvi program activities in the area, including planning, implementation and management
Work in coordination with program management local staff to ensure appropriate day-to-day management of projects, field coordination and program monitoring
Personally attend all activities related to project management, including administration, accounting, procurement (in accordance with CESVI rules and regulations), staffing and reporting
Directly supervise, mentor and monitor the work of the local staf
Report to the Desk Officer at HQs level and CR, through e-mails, other mailing, telephone calls and periodic reports, as required
Carry out briefing and de-briefing with the Desk Officer at the beginning and at the end of his/her assignment
Attend a compulsory training at the beginning of his/her assignment at Headquarters level.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES
Degree in International Cooperation, Agronomy, Rural Development or related subjects
Minimum of 2 years professional experience in development sector
Strong organizational, management and planning skills
Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken)
Computer literacy in Microsoft Office programs
Good communication skills with ability to work closely with CESVI local staff, beneficiaries and partners
Cross cultural awareness, sensitivity and patience
Very flexible and with a positive attitude.

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES
Previous experience in food security and in capacity building projects
Experience in management of food security and livelihood projects, preferably in Uganda or East African countries
The presence in the Country and a valid Ugandan work permit will be considered an advantage.
