Job Title: Sign Language Interpreter
The National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) is umbrella organization promoting the rights of persons with disabilities in Uganda with the vision of having a dignified society for all .
Responsibilities
• Interprets from spoken languages situations using the manual sign language appropriate for the Deaf/hard of hearing persons
• Share experience with the organizational staff on appropriate strategies for effective utilization of interpretation services in the organization.
• Support the Program Officer with program related activities .
• Manage the telephone related communications while working with the Program officer
• Works effectively in teams with other Sign Language inter preters and staff
• Adhere to the Code for Professional Conduct of Sign Language Interpreters
• Any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
• Diploma in any humanities plus a Diploma or Certificate in Sign Language interpretation from Recognized Institution.
• Fluency in Uganda Sign Language, English and other more local languages.
• Excellent computer skills using Microsoft words
• At least 3 years working experience providing sign Language interpretation services.
• Knowledge on general disability is an added advantage .
