Energy Economist shall report to Head Sector Planning Unit of the Organization and will offer advice and policy analysis to the Energy and Mineral sector Working group (EMD-SWG) and work with the Secretariat of the EMD-SWG so that the EMD-SWG gets well researched information which is in line with national development priorities
Roles
- Critically review and analyze the economic and financial aspects of various projects proposals submitted to the Ministry and advise on the way forward
- Analyze the sector policies and actions and their impact on the national economy as an input for policy reviews
- Review plans and recommendations of the different parastatals under the sector and give suggestions opinion, and plans for required corrective action.
- Contribute input so that the EMD-SWG deliverables are produced in a timely manner
- Assist the Advisor to the Chairman of the EMD-SWG to consolidate the development of the energy and mineral development sector investment plan




- Monitor and evaluate economic impacts caused by key government policies and programmes in the sector
- Any other duties within the scope of the EMD-SWG that may be the Head Sector Planning Unit heading the Secretariat of the EMD-SWG
Qualifications
A master’s Degree in Economics /Statistics, or Quantitative Economics
At least 8 years of practical working experience in the public private sector, four of which should be in an energy related sector
Ability to analyze economic impacts of Government policies and programmes in the energy sector
Ability to use statistical computer packages like Eviews, stata.SAS etc will be an added advantage
