AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) is an international not for profit NGO, with its Headquarters based in Los Angeles California, and is the largest community-based provider of HIV treatment and care services in the United States of America. AHF registered in Uganda as AHF-Uganda Cares, is collaboration between the Ministry of Health and AIDS Healthcare Foundation (U.S.A) to provide free HIV/AIDS services; including antiretroviral therapy in resource constrained settings. AHF- Uganda Cares to-date operates in 15 districts including; Masaka, Kampala, Rakai, Mpigi, Lyantonde, Soroti ,Lwengo, Bukomansimbi, Kalungu, Amuria, Butambala, Gomba ,Serere, Hoima and Tororo and supporting 21 clinic sites country wide.
Job Summary: The AIDS Healthcare Foundation-Uganda Cares is supporting the roll-out of Safe Male Circumcision (SMC) as part of HIV prevention initiating non- surgical circumcision with Prepex in Lukaya clinic. The Circumcision nurse will be part of the team working with clients receiving SMC services to ensure the highest quality service provision. Even though the main focus of the nurse will be SMC with Prepex. Among his / her duties will include support of other clinic activities.
Responsibilities:
Attend and successfully complete on-the-job training on non- surgical male circumcision with Prepex
Screen and prepare patients for Prepex
Perform Prepex placement and removal procedures
Educate / tutor patients and conduct post-procedure counseling
Document client and procedure information
Identify and manage adverse events
Sterilize surgical tools used in Prepex procedures
Responsible for stores management of Prepex kits and material.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should preferably hold graduate qualification from an accredited nursing training institution.
Previous training and experience in a circumcision surgical setting will be an added advantage
