About MSC:
The Microfinance Support Centre Limited (MSC) is an institution fully owned by the Government of Uganda (GOU). MSC was incorporated in 2001 as a company limited by guarantee, as part of GOU’s effort to promote access to affordable financial services for increased employment and wealth. MSC offers affordable credit through its network of 13 regional offices spread throughout the country. MSC has so far served clients in 110 districts in Uganda. MSC gives priority financing to support the agricultural production value chain namely; production, value addition and marketing. Besides credit, MSC provides capacity building to its clients including SACCOs, Cooperative Unions, MFIs and SMEs to enable them manage their organisations sustainably.
Job Summary: The Finance Officer will be responsible for the Zonal accounting functions, provision of technical assistance in the appraisal process and capacity building to clients.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains accounting records of the Zone
Participate in the preparation and implementation of the zonal budget. Maintain and regularly updates the Zone’s assets register.
Undertake institutional training and development needs assessment for the Company’s clients in the zones.
Offer technical support to clients at the zones.
Prepares vouchers and issuing cheques upon proper approval and signatures of authorized persons;
Filing accounting records including paid vouchers and supporting documents;
Banking of Company revenue.
Entering of financial transactions into the computer system.
Key Performance Areas:
Implement the Company financial and accounting, policies and procedures.
Conduct financial analysis of client’s appraisal reports and provide guidance on the loan process.
Manage all imprest funds at the Zonal office and ensure that adequate float is maintained and expenditure is according to the budget.
Qualifications,
The Finance Officer must hold a good bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration with emphasis on accounting (accounting major);
At least Level/Part II professional accounting qualifications in CPA, ACCA, or equivalent accounting qualifications will be of added advantage;
Skills and Experience:
Prior experience in automated accounting systems will be an added advantage;
A minimum of two years’ working experience in accounting with a reputable organization. Preferably in the financial service industry.
Highly self driven with high sense of responsibility.
Possess the ability to meet deadline with minimal supervision.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Age: between 25-40 years.
