Job Summary: The Head, Bank Operations will oversee Housing Finance Bank’s processes and procedures in relation to cash and payments and ensure efficient support to the frontline to achieve superior customer service delivery to our customers.



 Responsibilities:
Develop and implement process flows with defined deliverables in conjunction with function heads in order to facilitate service delivery to agreed standards.
Monitor and control the banks processes, procedures and people to ensure that Operations department procedures are within defined parameters and that income leakages are eliminated.
Monitor and control the reconciliation of suspense and correspondent bank accounts to eliminate the incidence of frauds and defined customer service delivery.
Conduct routine control checks on all functions in Operations department to mitigate risk, identify areas that can be improved and achieve defined operations control parameters.
Oversee the archive systems to ensure that bank has clean and properly archived documents to meet regulatory requirements and the various needs of the archive stakeholders.
Develop, implement and manage cash in transit transactions procedures to facilitate availability of efficient service delivery of cash to the various business ou Jets as and when it is required in a timely manner.
Manage the clearing section to ensure efficient processing of bills of exchange to customer expectations and defined risk control parameters.
Ensure that processing of foreign trade instruments are to customers' expectations and within defined risk parameters.
Manage the production of ATM cards and ensure on time delivery of the cards to customers within defined risk controls.
Monitor and achieve timely processing of inward/outward cheques, EFT, cost and income leakages as per clearing House Regulations and Policy. Manage departmental Operational costs within approved business plan and ensure compliance to statutory regulations relevant to operations department and the bank.
Manage relationships with key Stakeholders like B.O.U., URA, Government.
Oversee the Clearing function of the Bank to ensure efficient processing of bills of exchange to customer expectations and defined risk control parameters.
Manage the production of cheque books for current accounts and Draft request by branches and ensure timely delivery of cards to customers within defined risk controls.
Manage the Collection process of funds by the Bank for organisations like KCCA, URA, Umeme and funds transfer Agents like Money gram, Western Union and MCash.

Qualifications,
The applicant should hold a bachelor's degree (Hons) in Commerce, Economics, Accounting, Finance and Business Administration.
Possession of a Master's degree with specialty in any of the above disciplines and/or professional qualification will be an added advantage.

Skills and Experience:
At least eight years’ experience in a financial institution with at least four years at Senior Management level.
Good understanding of the Ugandan Banking industry.
Demonstrable leadership skills with strong intellect and vision as well as proven track record of honesty.
Proven and demonstrable team building skills. Possess excellent motivational, interpersonal, networking and strong communication skills. Self-driven, assertive and proactive.
Proven and demonstrable track record in achieving exceptional and consistent performance of set targets.
Ability to exercise integrity, responsibility and confidentiality. (Candidates must provide or attach a strong recommendation or testimony of their integrity and moral uprightness.
Possess the ability to identify, embrace and manage change to ensure that change positively impacts the bank.
Excellent presentation and analytical skills.
Good knowledge and understanding of  the current global regulatory environment of Banks as well as a demonstrated ability to keep on top of developments in the banking sector.
