Research Associate (Microfinance Multiplied) - BRAC Uganda

About BRAC:
BRAC, one the largest Non-Governmental Development Organization in the world, working in a number of countries in Africa and Asia on poverty alleviation Programs, is registered in Uganda as BRAC Uganda. The organization implements integrated development approach combining Education, Health, Agriculture, Livestock, Adolescent Empowerment, and Micro finance.

Job Summary: The Research Associate will oversee  the operations of its Microfinance Multiplied study. The Microfinance Multiplied is a randomized evaluation that aims to assess the effects of BRACSs microfinance and agriculture, poultry and livestock programs in beneficiaries® productivity and economic status. The study is being conducted in four BRAC branches in South-Western Uganda, namely: Kabale and Muhanga (in Kabale district), and Rukungiri and Buyanja (Rukungiri district).



Key Duties
Oversee planning and implementation of Microfinance Multiplied RCT.
Managing fieldwork, supervising data collection, and ensuring data quality.
Controlling for attrition and drop-out cases.
Prepare research instruments.
Running training of enumerators.
Responsible for data cleaning.
Analyzing quantitative and qualitative data and report writing.
Working with Research and Evaluation Unit (REU) to design and implement other research projects.
Supervising a team of research assistants, field supervisors, and enumerators.
Offer support to REU to mobilize resources for research projects.
Communicating with programs to share research findings.
Assisting programs in designing and preparing proposals for new projects.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Programme Manager Research & Evaluation.

Qualifications,
The Research Associate should hold a Master's degree in economics, development studies, statistics
Possess two or more years’ experience in project evaluation research.
Strong quantitative research skills, including coursework in impact evaluation and econometrics.
Computer literacy skills i.e. Proficiency in data analysis using STATA; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point).
Excellent English grammar in written communication.
Possess a proven ability to work independently, lead a team, manages deadlines and produce high quality output.
