Job Summary: The Principal Internal Auditor will mainly be responsible for independent and objective evaluation of the Parliamentary Commission’s operations and processes for conformity with relevant statutory regulations
Responsibilities:
Participate in developing up to date audit frameworks and tools
Carry out and follow up on all internal audits, including preliminary surveys.
Prepare written post audit reports for submission to the Parliamentary Commission
Ensure compliance and adherence to acceptable audit practices, procedures and standards
Carry out special and forensic investigations and audits.
Conduct audits of computerized accounting systems.
Carry-out risk assessment and propose mitigation strategies
Prepare periodic audit reports.
Supervise and manage performance of subordinate staff.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications,
The ideal candidate must hold an Honours Bachelor’s Degree with Finance or Accounting (option) from a recognized University/ Institution, with full professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA or CIA.
Or
Full Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA or CIA
In addition he/she must possess at least a Postgraduate Diploma in Finance or Accounting related field.
Skills & Experience:
He/ She should have a minimum of six (6) years’ relevant work experience in accounting or audit function, three of which should have been obtained at Senior Officer level in Government or equivalent level of experience from a reputable organization.
Must be a member of an Audit or Accounting professional body.
Demonstrable knowledgeable of government audit practices and procedures
Possesses effective written and oral communication skills
Superb judgment and analytical skills
Possess the ability to take initiative, lead and motivate staff in the Division
Good ethical standing and integrity.
