About UMI:
Uganda Management Institute (UMI) is a Management Development Institution with a mission “To Excel in Developing Practical and Sustainable Administration, Leadership and Management Capacity”. It provides management training, consultancy and research services in response to the demands of the public, private, and NGO sectors. In addition to short performance improvement management skills development courses, the Institute offers high quality career development management courses at Certificate, Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma and Higher Degree Levels. The Institute’s activities are currently carried out at the main campus in Kampala and its Outreach Centers in Mbarara, Gulu and Mbale.
Key Duties
Facilitating the budget management process
Maintenance of the purchases ledger
Maintenance of the fixed assets’ register
Processing of the expenditure journals
Preparing schedules and reconciliation of creditors
Maintaining staff loans and advances
Preparing bank reconciliation statements
Supervise the general ledger
Supervise stores
Preparing and submitting financial reports
Perform any other duties as assigned
Qualifications,
The applicant should possess a Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration (honors) degree with a major in Accounting or Finance
A member of a professional accountancy body such as ACCA or CPA (U), (K)
Skills and Experience:
A minimum of two years’ experience as an Accountant in a busy and reputable organization
Competence in computer-based accounting systems, preferably Navision financials
Self-motivated with keen interest to detail and meeting tight deadline
Possess the ability to work with minimum supervision.
Job Terms: All successful candidates will, on being confirmed in appointment, be offered five-year renewable contracts, a competitive basic salary complemented by housing allowance, medical allowance, transport allowance and an attractive gratuity scheme.
