Job title: Programme Support Officer

Our client VSO is a leading international development agency that works to fight global poverty and disadvantage. In Uganda, VSO focuses on livelihoods, education and health programming, working through local partners, skilled staff and international volunteers.
VSO is currently expanding its programs in Uganda and as a result it is seeking for passionate, committed and experienced individuals

Key Responsibilities
Programme Support
Support programme staff in planning and implementation of the programme;
Act as a key link between the programme and other support functions on day-to-day issues – operations, HR, finance;
Assist with programme administration and documentation and knowledge management as well as internal team communications; Work with M&E Manager and Programme Manager to ensure monitoring activities are implemented and findings documented and actioned
Capture learning from programme activities throughout the year and document lessons learnt and success stories for future use in reports
Support the Programme staff in other activities as may be assigned
Volunteer Planning and Coordination
Assist with the coordination of new programme volunteer arrivals and orientation;
Support programme staff by coordinating volunteer work plans, scheduling and organizing support visits and ensuring volunteer reports are distributed and returned on a timely basis
Develop and maintain a documentation system that contains up to date and accurate profiles of partners and volunteers as well as placement and partnership details
To support other general aspects of this livelihoods programme
Key Performance Indicator
Dynamic, transparent and effective networks are maintained (between VSO, training institutions, volunteers, and other stakeholders), which support the development of the programme
Planned project activities are successfully implemented and accurately documented as per grant agreements and operational plans
Feedback from volunteers and training participants is followed-up on corrective action is taken in collaboration with other staff
Volunteer records are kept up to date and required professional registration is complete
Volunteers are supported and their work is linked into the programme M&E;
Support functions are linked in with programme activities on a timely basis
Skills required
Essential:
Experience at programme planning and areas of support – administration, logistics, finance, procurement,
Proven ability to work as part of a team in a pressured environment;
Bachelors degree in relevant field;
2 years of relevant experience
IT literate (Microsoft packages)
Oral and written fluency in English, with confidence in communicating to a wide range of audiences.
Desirable:
Knowledge and understanding of multi-sectoral development issues
Practical experience gained within an NGO context
Knowledge and experience of livelihoods programming
Experience and knowledge of Northern Uganda
