Job Summary: The Protection Manager will be responsible for maximizing availability of Key Power systems and protecting Umeme assets against damage and failure and threat to life
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Responding promptly to unplanned protection failure events
Development and maintenance of planned inspection and maintenance programmes for Sub Stations and all Key Power System assets especially MV Lines, MV Transformers, Power Transformers, Circuit Breakers and Capacitor Banks
Testing and checking all new equipment installations to ensure maximum conformity with protection protocols
Designing and developing work programmes to ensure timely coverage of assets and in an efficient manner
Analysing and reporting on key protection failures with a view to preventing re-occurrence and maximizing availability
Planning and operating with safety to staff and customers as priority
Contributing to overall Asset Management strategies
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The candidate should hold a Degree in Electrical Engineering with 5 (five) years experience with Electricity Power Systems
Strong analytical skills and capacity to diagnose intelligently under pressure.
Good judgment and ability to mobilize support for views. Excellent mentor and developer of skills in team
