Key Roles
The Uganda Field Researcher will carry out the following duties during the consultancy period:
Identify and reach out to organizational stakeholders and refugees to set up interviews.
Carry out, record and transcribe interviews with organizational and refugee stakeholders in
Kampala, using interpreters, as necessary.
In coordination with UNHCR HQ, develop and conduct a training workshop on the protection of overlooked refugee populations in the context of GBV prevention and response.
Compile a report including analysis and recommendations based on field research and training.
Qualification
The applicant should hold an M.A. in social work, psychology, sociology or law. (B.A. in same with extensive field research experience may be sufficient).
Skills and Experience:
Extensive familiarity with refugee communities in Uganda or Ugandan GBV survivor communities from the target groups, and with relevant organizational stakeholders in Uganda.
Fluency in English, with knowledge of Swahili, French, Somali, Arabic, Tigrinya or Amharic, a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Significant survey experience, including strong background conducting semi-structured interviews and qualitative data analysis.
Extensive experience developing and conducting trainings.
Deep understanding of and sensitivity to cultural, age, gender and sexual diversity.
Strong commitment to human rights.
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
