Job Summary: The Senior Sociologist will be responsible for ensuring that socio-economic aspects of projects undertaken by the Division are well handled to in order to promotes wider acceptance of project deliverables by the beneficiaries and hence lead to overall project success and sustainability.
Key Roles
Offer Support in carrying out community mobilization, sensitization and awareness campaigns towards successful implementation of water and sewerage projects.
Carry out socio-economic studies and surveys for new water and sewerage development projects.
Develop concept notes and Terms of Reference for undertaking socio-economic studies for water and sewerage infrastructure development programs.
Participate in coordinating activities related to land/property valuation and compensation during implementation of water and sewerage development projects.
Securing easements for the water distribution mains, reservoirs and booster construction.
Involvement in post project evaluation of socio-economic outputs of the water and sewerage projects.
Involvement in progress reviews of on-going projects in regard to socio-economic outputs and providing feed-back.
Provide support in preparation and implementation of resettlement action plans.
Undertaking social marketing to ensure maximization of project benefits.
Support in dispute resolution during project implementation process.
Qualifications,
The candidate should hold an upper second degree in Social Sciences, Social Works and Social Administration, Development Studies and Community Psychology.
Masters degree in a relevant field will be an added advantage
Skills and Experience:
Proficiency in MS Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, SPSS and other statistical software applications
Post-graduate education in project management field
Four (4) or more years working experience in community based projects or similar environment
Excellent communication, and presentation skills
Should have a good understanding and appreciation of project appraisal skills.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective business relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal and excellent team-building skills , problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
Age: below 40 years
