About BAU:
Build Africa Uganda is and International NGO that operates in Uganda whose primary aim is to improve the quality of life for the targeted communities in the areas where the organization works. This is largely achieved through making considerable improvements in the quality of education enjoyed by children while improving the ability of their families to secure sustainable livelihoods.
Job Summary: The Programmes Officer is responsible for the implementation of a high quality livelihood program in the Kumi program area including reporting, monitoring and evaluation. Additionally, the job-holder is expected to initiate and exhibit a culture of innovation and creativity in effecting his roles in the programme. Additionally, the job-holder will be expected to continually observe the day-to-day effectiveness of programme delivery, noting and reporting any areas where improvements are possible and making sure improvements are made. S/he will support the planning and design processes within the livelihood programme at BAU.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The job holder should possess a bachelor’s degree in preferably agriculture from a recognized university with at least three years demonstrated experience in implementing development projects (SMEs, income generating activities, livelihood activities ) in an international NGO.
Good understanding of the livelihoods development sector especially attributes of production, value addition, marketing and resilience to shocks and stresses.
Comprehensive knowledge of income generating activities, development training and micro enterprise creation
Experience working in communities
Proactive thinker
Awareness of child protection issues
Knowledge of the local language is an advantage
A person of high integrity that will model BAU’s core values
Ability to ride a motor cycle with a valid permit to this cause
