DATA ANALYST
The Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) has signed an MoU with the U.S Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to strengthen Institute capacity through the management and coordination of laboratory surveillance, epidemiology, public health evaluations and training in Uganda under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief. Under this cooperation, UVRI intends to recruit the following personnel on a one year .contract to be renewed depending on availability of funds. All positions are based at Entebbe.Main Purpose of the Job:
To maintain up-to-date and consolidated data on all project activities, analyse the data, avail the resulting information to users, and offer them necessary support.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and continually update the project data management systems
Establish management information and feedback system for project activities
Verify incoming project related data
Validate and carry out quality checking of the data
Tabulate the data as required for various analyses and applications
Carry-out statistical and other analysis of data
Interpret the data as necessary or as required
Make frequent checks to ensure that data is properly backed up
Maintain the database up to date and disseminate data as required
Ensure confidentiality of data
Provide technical support and guidance to the managers of the project, to facilitate their continuous monitoring of programme implementation
Advise the management of the project on ways of improving performance basing on results of data analysis.
Build the capacity of project staff to manage data collection..
In collaboration with the data entrants, make arrangements to ensure that the project computers, printers and accessories are properly maintained on schedule
Compile periodic reports on data management and submit them to the Project Manager.
Represent the project at meetings to explain the data as need arises.
Undertake any other duties that may reasonably be assigned by the Biostatistician or Director UVRI.
Requirement:
A Bachelors Degree in Statistics
Database Management leading to DBA certification
At least 3 years in data analysis and management
Knowledge of relational database software (MSAccess, Oracle, SQL Server or MySQL)
Skills in Statistical Analysis (preferably in Stata)
Experience: 3 years
