About ANPPCAN:
The African Network for the Prevention and Protection against Child Abuse and Neglect (ANPPCAN) Uganda Chapter is a national child focused organization working to protect and promote the rights of children with particular focus on preventing and redressing violations of children’s rights.

Job Summary: The job holder will be responsible for initiating and executing appropriate research and information activities to support ANPPCAN’s advocacy work. Responsible for ensuring ANPPCAN’s effective engagement within the legislative and policy arena so engender positive legal and policy outcomes for the promotion of the rights of children in Uganda.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

To identify and plan for the research, advocacy and information needs for the organization.
To undertake research and mobilize and analyze appropriate information for enhancing the awareness and advocacy role for the organization.
To regularly disseminate relevant information through the media, the ANPPCAN resource centre and other relevant for a so as to enhance respect and promotion of children’s rights.
To maintain effective links with and build the capacity of the media in ensuring effective coverage and advocacy for the rights of children.
To initiate and engage with legislative and policy processes and spearhead / effectively participate in alliances that are necessary for engendering appropriate laws and policies for the protection of the rights of children in Uganda.
Ensure efficient, effective and timely implementation of research information and advocacy activities as per the work-plans.
Work with the head of programs to respond and address donor requirements of projects of the department
Ensure the visibility of ANPPCAN and her work at all levels.
To participate in the mobilization of resources for the programmes of the organization through the development of relevant proposals and undertaking any other relevant resource mobilization activities.
Discharge management functions as may be delegated

Requirements
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Minimum of a Degree in Political Science, Sociology, Mass Communication, Social Development and/or a relevant subject from a recognized institution. Post graduate qualifications in finance management, human rights, project planning and management an added advantage.
At least 4 years experience working in the area of research, advocacy, communications and public relations of which 2 years are in a management/supervisory role.
Experience in the conception, design and management of advocacy strategies and initiatives
Previous experience of working in a media house.
Excellent proven interpersonal and communication skills and strong research, information management and networking skills.
Excellent analytical, evaluation and report writing skills.
Solid experience with various classic and modern communication channels from print over electronic to social media.
Hands on experience in proposal writing, budgeting and budget management.
Good interpersonal skills; ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
Ability to work as part of team and provide leadership, supervision and support to colleagues.
A high level of computer proficiency
Age limit: 27-40 years
