Job Summary: The Training and Capacity Development Coordinator will lead the planning and delivery of training and other capacity development initiatives for a new programme focusing on youth-centred, comprehensive sexual health education (CSE). He/she will lead training, mentoring and other activities to support (a) civil society organizations to integrate youth-centred CSE into their work; and (b) young people to lead advocacy on CSE at local and national levels. This position requires outstanding organisational abilities and excellent communication skills
Major Roles
1. Lead training and capacity development for CSOs: Design and deliver training, mentoring and other activities for civil society organisations
Undertake CSO mapping to assess current capacity in CSE programming
Design and develop training curriculum for CSOs on integrating CSE and youth-friendly approaches
Design and implement a monitoring and evaluation framework for the training and capacity development initiatives
Recruit and train a team of young people to lead training and other
2. Support training and capacity development for youth advocates: in collaboration with the Programme Manager and Programme Officer, coordinate training and support to youth advocates
Support design and development of training curriculum for youth on advocacy on CSE issues
Support training of a team of young people to lead advocacy on CSE at local and national levels
Support design of mentoring and other capacity development initiatives to ensure youth are able to lead advocacy
Support youth to engage in national and sub-national advocacy initiatives
3. Personnel management: ensure effective management of Programme Officer and support capacity development initiatives for the wider organisation
Performance and line management of the Programme Officer, including regular review of professional development plans
Deputise for Programme Manager as required
Contribute to staff training and capacity development initiatives
4. Financial management and reporting: ensure sound budget management and timely and accurate financial reporting
Ensure effective budget management in accordance with organisational financial procedure and donor requirements
Support development and review of programme expenditure reports
Support development of annual programme budgets and quarterly reforecasts
Ensure that value for money is obtained in all purchases
5. Other: Perform other duties as required, including occasional work on weekends for which time off in lieu can be taken
Qualifications,
The candidate should have prior experience designing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating training and other capacity development initiatives with CSOs
Skills & Experience:
Experience supporting youth sexual reproductive health programmes
Experience supporting youth advocacy initiatives
Experience managing and reporting against programme budgets
Good understanding of contemporary development issues particularly those related to youth sexual reproductive health and youth participation
Ability to analyse problems and make sound operational decisions
Excellent organisational skills and a methodological approach to programme management
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
Excellent budget management skills
Fluency in written and spoken English essential
Excellent IT skills
