General Manager - Uganda Hands for Hope

About UHfH:
Uganda Hands for Hope is a non-profit organisation working with the residents of Kampala’s informal urban settlements. We pride ourselves on having a close working relationship with our beneficiaries and for our “hands-on” approach to our work. We assist the most vulnerable by providing opportunities to acquire the necessary skills to help themselves and their community, focusing mainly on the needs of local women and children. UHfH is a small non-profit organisation working with the residents of Kampala’s informal urban settlements.

Job Summary: The General Manager will be responsible for the daily operations. S/he will strengthen their management skills and build experience in the 'grassroots' aspect of international development.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the management of all programmes (education, livelihoods, health, etc)
Create an efficient and positive culture for employees
Mentor and build the capacity of Child Sponsorship Manager and Head Teacher
Improve existing programmes, develop new initiatives, and strengthen relationships with local organisations
Develop the new Children with Disabilities policy
Strengthen monitoring and evaluation capabilities
Manage all financial operations (i.e. budgets, cashflows, financial procedures, audits, etc)
Liaise with sponsors, donors, volunteers, and office visitors
Prepare all communication and marketing materials (i.e. newsletters, annual reports, maintain Facebook and Twitter accounts, etc)
Ensure that the legalities of the organisation and responsibilities are maintained
Complete any other tasks assigned by the Board of Directors
Fundrasie to financially support programmes

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should have an Undergraduate degree, preferably in a field relating to UHfH work (i.e. international relations, development, project management, social work, etc)
Experience in a developing country environment
Experience working in a area relating to UHfH work (Child Development, Social Work, Project Management, International Development, etc)
At least two years management / leadership experience
Strong organisational and communication skills
Strong report writing and analytical skills
Strong IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
A passion for development
Ability to work within a cross-cultural team
Want to work for a non-profit that wants to make a difference
Familiarity with social media tools (i.e. Twitter, Facebook, etc)
