He/she serves as a principal assistant to the Director with responsibility for the overall initiation, planning organization and direction of all approved scientific research relevant to the DLCO-EA regional actives specific areas of responsibility are outline below however he/she may be required to perform other duties which may be delegated to him /her by the director
Duties
Plans direct and supervise all scientific research actives undertaken by the organization and ensure the issuance of technical reports
Liaises with institutions/bodies within and outside the region in matters pertaining DLCO-EA research activities
Coordinates with director to conduct special operational actives for research purposes
Coordinates preparation of working papers for technical committee meeting and acts as Technical secretary for such meetings
Plans and coordinates training programmes with divisions of administration and finance to ensure that a

Develops and improves pest management techniques for the mandated migrant pests
Qualifications
PHD in Entomology from a recognized University with at least % yeas post qualification experience or a Masters Degree in Entomology from accredited University with at least 10 years post qualification experience in leading or directing research programmes or projects in the field of plant protection
Ability to work in harmony with people of different national and cultural backgrounds is highly desirable
Be computer literate and proficient in data collection analysis and report writing.
